Motorized Patio Screens in the Memorial Area

The Memorial area along Buffalo Bayou in west Houston is known for large lots, tall pines and oaks, and homes designed around outdoor living. It includes neighborhoods inside the City of Houston as well as the separately incorporated Memorial Villages.

Heavy tree cover and the bayou nearby make for shaded, humid backyards. Beautiful, and also good mosquito habitat.

Large outdoor living spaces

Homes here often have outdoor living rooms with fireplaces, kitchens, TVs and seating for a crowd, and the openings tend to be wide and tall to match. Screens for large openings take careful measuring and the right system for the span.

When the patio is designed as part of the house, fabric and housing color matter more too. We bring samples so you can see them against your materials.

Villages and neighborhoods with their own rules

Depending on your address, you may be in the City of Houston or in one of the Memorial Villages: Bunker Hill, Hedwig, Hilshire, Hunters Creek, Piney Point or Spring Valley. Each village has its own city government and building requirements, and many neighborhoods also have deed restrictions.

Check what applies to your property before installation. We’ll provide whatever product information you need.

Memorial patio screen questions

Can screens be used near an outdoor fireplace?

Fireplaces and fire features need clearance and ventilation. We plan screen placement so they aren’t closed in, and follow the clearances the manufacturers specify. In some layouts, the screen nearest the fireplace stays up while a fire is lit.

Will pine needles and pollen clog the tracks?

Debris can collect at the bottom of the side tracks over time, especially under pines. Rinsing the tracks every so often keeps the screens running smoothly. We’ll show you what to check during the walkthrough.
