Screens for Outdoor Kitchens & Pool Areas

You put real money into the outdoor kitchen, the pool and the cabana. Then summer arrived, and the mosquitoes, flies and late sun made them hard to use.

Retractable screens fit outdoor kitchens, pavilions, cabanas and covered patios next to the pool. Lower them while you cook and eat, and raise them when you want a clear line of sight from the house to the water.

Make the outdoor kitchen usable all season

  • Flies off the food

Screens keep flies and mosquitoes away from the prep counter and the table.

  • Cook in the shade

Solar fabric on the sunny side means the cook isn’t standing in the afternoon sun.

  • Clear view when it’s up

Retract the screens for an unobstructed view from the kitchen to the pool.

  • Planned around the grill

We place screens with grills, smokers and pizza ovens in mind so heat and smoke have somewhere to go.

  • Built for outdoors

Screen fabrics and aluminum hardware are made for outdoor use, humidity included.

  • Works on detached structures

Pavilions and cabanas with solid posts and beams can be screened like any patio.

Outdoor living in a Houston summer

Around Houston, outdoor kitchens and pools get the most use from spring through fall, which lines up almost exactly with peak bug season and the hottest sun. Pavilions and cabanas often stand away from the house with open sides, so nothing stops the mosquitoes or the late sun.

A detached structure needs solid posts and beams to mount to, plus power for the motors. We check both at the consultation and plan around the grill, vent hood and any heaters so the screens fit the space.

Questions about outdoor kitchen & pool screens

Is it safe to use a grill with the screens down?

Grills, smokers and fire features need airflow and clearance. We plan screen placement so heat-producing appliances aren’t closed in, and we’ll go over what the appliance manufacturer allows for your setup. If in doubt, raise the screen next to the grill while it’s in use.

Do screens around a pool count as a pool fence?

No. Retractable screens are not pool barriers and don’t meet pool safety fencing requirements. Keep your existing fence, gates and alarms in place.

Can you screen a freestanding pavilion or cabana?

In most cases, yes, as long as the structure has solid posts and beams to mount to and we can get power to the motors. We look at both during the consultation.
